Don’t get me wrong, I love the stuff the fandom has come up with! :D

…But after a while, it gets hard to be original, because so many designs/AUs/headcanons are so popularly accepted. :(

Examples:

Body types! Tall Gamzee, short Karkat, teeny Nepeta, these are so common it’s hard to find any variance in fanart.

Costumes! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Rumminov’s Fancy Dreamers and God Tiers, but theirs are the ONLY designs I ever see used! I’m afraid to share my own designs because everyone likes Rumminov’s so much…

More costumes - Tricksters! As far as I know… isn’t John the only one with a canon Trickster design? But I see Trickster versions of all the kids, trolls, sprites, god tiers, everything! And a lot of designs fall into the “so popular they’re the only ones used” category…

There are more, but these are the examples I could think of.

Again, I’m NOT trying to bash any of these things! Like I said, I love Rumminov’s designs! And the popular design for John’s Trickster God Tier is great!

But I feel like everyone only uses the fanon designs, and there aren’t’ a lot of people who do their own thing.

(Sorry this part was so long, I just hope people realize that I don’t HATE the popular designs, I just wish there were MORE designs…)
